UNH Partners with Tuckerman Brewing on Celebratory Ale

This article is about the partnership between UNH and Tuckerman Brewing Co.

UNH Partners with Tuckerman Brewing on Celebratory AleDURHAM, N.H.—Tuckerman Brewing Company and the University of New Hampshire have partnered to brew a traditional session ale to support the university’s brewing science lab. Called 1866 (the year UNH was founded), it will be distributed throughout the state in cans and on draft beginning this week.

The UNH Brewing Science Laboratory is both a fully equipped professional beverage manufacturing facility and one of the most advanced analytical beer chemistry labs in the state. It supports UNH’s brewing science minor and provides beneficial beer testing services to New Hampshire brewers. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the beer will support the lab.

An English mild ale, 1886 is described as having “light and sweet toasty notes followed by a smooth and subtle malt finish.” It is brewed with premium English malts and East Kent Goldings hops. It is being offered in a limited, one batch release.

“This collaboration with Tuckerman allowed us to provide students in our minor the opportunity for hands-on experience helping to brew 1866 and is another example of our commitment to working with business and industry throughout the state,” said Marc Sedam, managing director of UNHInnovation. “We were thrilled to find a supportive brewery that wanted to bring 1866 back and look forward to an ongoing partnership that keeps 1866 in the market.”

UNH and Tuckerman encourage responsible drinking for those 21 years of age or older. To learn more about upcoming events featuring the ale visit UNHInnovation.
